Katakolon, Greece was a charming
port. Basically a vacation spot along
the shore. B & I did a bit of
shopping, he found an internet café while I shopped some more-lol! & we had
a drink in a café with a view of the sea and the ship.
The
weather has been very cooperative this whole trip – in the low 80’s. The last couple of days we have had thunder
storms and rain in the evening but the Captain has managed to find sunshine
during the days…
Corfu, Greece was or next port o’
call. It is a much larger island and we
had to take the local bus into the old town market area. As we walked into the maze of shops we saw 2
of our favorite crew members at a café.
We chatted with them for a few minutes till their food arrived. Two hours later we ambled past the same café and
they were still eating and paying their bill…it was hilarious… In our wanderings we spotted a baklava bakery
and ended up purchasing enough baklava to
feed half the ship – ooops, a little goes a long way! Lol!
I
have managed to find small pieces of art from each port and will display them
on the living room wall…
Yesterday
was Corcula, Croatia. It was a tender port but we waited till about
10am and managed to get right on and water taxi over to this magnificent city.
It is a walled fortress with most of the area
having been built in the 14th century. With very few cars around, you can almost
imagine you are back in history, until you stumble upon one of the many
pizzerias…lol! B & I ate pizza with
a coke zero for me and a local beer for B.
We dined al fresco (outside-hehe) right next to the cathedral. I think that Corcula ranks right up there as
one of my favorite ports for the whole cruise.
The architecture is stunning, the people were friendly and the whole
city is enchanting.
Today
we are in Brindisi, Italy. It is our last port stop before we reach Rome
and disembark. We rode the little white
train and took a tour of the city for one hour.
This tour included free gelato, which B said was the best part of the
trip…lol! Because we know we will be in
Italy for 8 days, we just came back to the ship. Besides posting this blog, I want to pack a
bit so I can be ahead of the game and won’t have to spend my whole sea day
packing… I will continue to post blogs
as often as we can from Italy and Spain…
I hope you will continue to read them…
Happy Sailing
